A group of South Asian activists and organisations based in Toronto organised a conference between the 24th April 2009 and the 26th April 2009 in Toronto. The attendees included South Asians from the region and those living in the diaspora. They discussed the current threats the peoples of the region both in the region and in the diaspora face including occupations and the impact of the war on terror.

This forum will provide an opportunity to the participants of the conference and others from the region to continue the discussion. The conference organisers will use this forum to publish the panel presentations and discussions in the next few weeks and hope others would contribute to those discussions through comments etc.

We will also be placing articles on issues within the sub-continent to help discuss some of the key issues in the region.  Any article appearing on the blog does not necessarily mean that the views expressed has the approval of all the participants at the conference.
